Hard Disk Drives (HDD)
Hard drives have changed drastically and become more digital. Although HDDs are still available, they are being replaced more and more by new and faster solid-state drives. If you are considering replacing your older HDD with a SSD please contact us so that we can discuss how we can make that happen. SSD drives are much smaller, lighter, and faster. We have completed numerous HDD to SSD upgrades with no data loss.
Solid State Drives (SSD)
SSDs have no moving parts like traditional HDDs. The SSDs are also supposed to last longer than the older HDDs and, cost-wise, may be a little more expensive, but not much. Some older motherboards may not be able to handle an SSD, but we have seen many that will with no compatibility issues. Depending on the type of motherboard, we will determine the best SSD to use, whether a 2.5-inch SATA or the faster M.2 NVMe. The M.2 NVMe, we like to describe the way it looks like a stick of gum - it is that small! Our customers will typically upgrade their older drivers for several reasons, but mostly to move to a larger and faster drive.
